The Intro

Tashas Group is a dynamic and growing hospitality company.

Originally from South Africa and founded by Natasha Sideris, the group encompasses a number of restaurant concepts including tashas, Flamingo Room by tashas, Avli by tashas, Le Parc by tashas and one of the World's 50 Best Bars, Galaxy Bar.

In 2005, the first tashas café opened with a bang. Challenging the status quo with a boutique lifestyle café that shunned the norm, Natasha has since changed the face of daytime eating in South Africa, and the UAE too.

Today tashas has become an extended family of 21 restaurants – 15 in South Africa and 9 in the UAE – and all of them are spaces where food and conversation go hand in hand.

THE CHALLENGE

As Tashas Group set its sights on conquering the Saudi market, it encountered a significant challenge in aligning its menu offerings with the Saudi FDA's regulations.

The Saudi FDA mandates that each menu item must provide calorie counts, allergen information, and meal-type details. With a limited timeline for its market entry, Tashas Group needed a comprehensive and efficient solution to analyze its recipes and ensure compliance with these regulations.

SOLUTION

Recognizing the time-sensitive nature of Tashas Group's expansion plans, NutriCal offered an 'end-to-end project management' service. The NutriCal team collaborated closely with Tashas Group's Managing Director of the Middle East and the Chefs' team to gather recipes and menu details. In less than 30 days from the initial contact, NutriCal completed the calorie counting, allergen identification, and meal-type classification for all menu items.

The collaboration between Tashas Group and NutriCal followed a swift and structured process. The NutriCal team meticulously analyzed each recipe, ensuring accurate calorie counts and flagging major allergens. Additionally, they highlighted important meal-type information such as vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. This data was not only crucial for regulatory compliance but also for meeting customer expectations in a diverse culinary landscape.

Result

Thanks to the efficient collaboration with NutriCal, Tashas Group successfully obtained the necessary calorie counts and allergen information for its entire menu. Armed with accurate nutritional data, Tashas Group confidently entered the Saudi market, providing customers with transparent and informative menu choices.
